What Camera Are You Using?

We'd like to hear about some of the camera and video technology you are using in your every day life. Whether old school analog video; your cellphone; miniDV; or the latest HD camera. What makes and models are your favorites? Anyone using a really good SD card consumer camera? Check out this amazing solid state HD camera from Aiptek:

I am using two cameras:

Canon GL1 - Nice and rugged. Not a lot of features but a solid camera. It was the camera to have 5 years ago. It still does not disappoint. It is a SD camera but shots in 16X9. I use it mostly for when we have to run and gun. We also use it as a behind the scenes camera. It does not come with XLR inputs so you are limited on the audio

Canon XH-A1 - This is a HDV camera that has a lot of bells and whistles. You do not need to know about all of them to get a good picture. We use this as the primary camera. It has 2 XLR inputs so audio is not an issue. It also has SD card for still pictures. THe XH-A1 is what you call a mid-level "Prosumer" camera. It has a sexy look to it especially when you put a shotgun mic and wide angle lense on it.

I went with Canon because of their reputation with lenses and still cameras. I am not sure they are the best but I like the familarity since I own a Canon still camera also. I have heard the Panasonic and JVC cameras are great. But when I think of those two brands I do not think of high end electronics!

I'm producing a feature film next year in GAbon. I'm looking for skilled crew. People who know lighting for film (and video), dollying, steadicam, and how to work with 35mm!
